New Processes

I have begun slip casting which is a new process for me. There definitely has been a learn curve which is not always the most enjoyable. Not only is slip casting new to me, but so is working with plaster. It has been a double learning experience that although has been frustrating, is also exciting because of the anticipation of where these new skills will take my work. The current project is of a piece of wood. Here are some pictures of the process so far:

Here are all the slabes I would roll out and cut for one box.




I used the side of one of my boxes that did not make it for glaze tests.  I learned that after four percent mason stain the glaze became completely saturated.

The suspense...

They survived!  

Project 1

In my project one we were asked to take a found object and change it in some way.  Then make a sculpture that no longer resemebles the original found object.  I picked the bottom of a broom and zoomed in on it till all I saw was giant cylinders.  Here are some photos from the process and the completed piece:
